Heavenly stone is an ancient term used by people to refer to meteorites. When ancient people saw meteorites falling from the sky, they called them heavenly stones. There are many types of heavenly stones, often used as carving materials, with the most precious one being called “heavenly heart stone.”
This can only be a meteorite; otherwise, it’s impossible to explain the phenomenon we are witnessing. It is inconceivable that humans could embed such a massive round stone into the rock layers. But how much of this meteorite is embedded in the rock? It’s almost unimaginable.
Others gradually came to realize this and turned on their mining lamps to shine around the cave ceiling, trying to find the edge where the meteorite meets the rock ceiling. They discovered that its diameter is about five to six hundred meters, and considering the size inside the rock, it is estimated to be nearly a kilometer in diameter.
The holes make this meteorite look incredibly ugly, resembling a gigantic beehive that has already rotted. For some reason, I always feel that this thing looks like the elixirs we see; the holes are pitch black, and when illuminated, it’s impossible to see what’s inside or how it was formed. Looking at the countless dark openings above my head, like tiny eyes, I suddenly felt an intense sense of being watched, which made me very uncomfortable. Wen Jin said, “This must be our destination; this is definitely the ultimate secret of the West Queen Mother. What Wang Canghai is looking for might be this thing…”
“What does he want this for? What use does this meteorite have?” I couldn’t understand.
Wen Jin shook his head as well: “I’m not sure yet; it might be related to these holes. How could there be so many?”
I looked at those holes and felt a chill down my spine: “Could they have been dug out artificially? Damn it, could there be something inside this meteorite?”
The black blind man suddenly said, “No, this should be natural. Many meteorites are honeycomb-shaped; it’s just that these holes are a bit unsightly.”
He suddenly spoke seriously, which made me feel quite uncomfortable. One of my uncle’s associates said, “Have you heard of an unverified theory that the Qaidam Basin and the Tarim Basin were formed by the impact of a split asteroid? This might be a fragment of that meteorite. The oasis of Tamu Tuo is the meteorite eye from the impact, and the West Queen Mother built the City of the West Queen Mother in this meteorite crater. When constructing the underground water reservoir, they discovered this meteorite embedded deep in the layers. I suspect this thing must be a symbol of the West Queen Mother’s divine power.”
This was the second time this associate spoke. I had never paid attention to him and couldn’t remember his name. I was about to ask him for more details about that theory when I was distracted by the fat man.
The fat man was again disorganized and undisciplined, and I didn’t know when he had wandered very far with the dull oil bottle, about four or five hundred meters away from us. He was shining his light on something we couldn’t see. He called us to come and take a look. We waded through the water and reached their position, where we finally saw the junction between the meteorite and the cave ceiling. The scene here was simply hellish; numerous stone pillars hung down from above, forming a vast and bizarre giant stone waterfall. The slope was gentle enough to walk up, and it was absurdly large, almost like a small mountain.
This is not a karst landscape; these stone waterfalls are shaped grotesquely and hideously, resembling countless massive monster tentacles stuck together. This should be a bizarre sight formed by high-temperature metamorphosed rocks after a meteorite impact; I can hardly find words to describe it.
On one of the widest and largest stone waterfalls, we saw rudimentary stone steps, with bronze lamps placed on either side. At the very top of the steps, the part where the stone waterfall connects to the cave ceiling has fractured, and the break has been shaped into a stone platform. Looking around, I realized that it must be a sacrificial altar, where one could approach the meteorite closely and have a panoramic view of the sacrificial site.
The most crucial detail is that on the sacrificial altar, there is a stone throne with several corners, the exact shape unclear, but it is extremely large, and on the throne, I could see a person sitting.
I took a deep breath and thought, who could that be? Could it be the Queen Mother of the West? Has she been guarding her holy place here all this time?
