1797 Chapter 4

Li Cu’s scream was so tragic that it could definitely be recorded in the annals of Peking Union Medical College Hospital. During the time leading up to his discharge, he was constantly referred to as “Screaming Lord.” It was said that even the administrative office in another building clearly heard his scream, and the hospital leadership thought there had been a major medical accident or that something extraordinary had finally been delivered in the obstetrics and gynecology department on the sixth floor.

After Li Cu yelled, he kept trying to tear off the tape from his back. However, it was clear that the doctors had anticipated this situation when they bandaged him; the tape was tightly wrapped around his abdomen with medical adhesive. He pulled at it several times but couldn’t get it off. Later, nurses rushed in and called over a few male nursing aides who firmly pinned him down on the bed.

Fortunately, there was no scene like in the movies where they sedate the madman. Li Cu calmed down under the weight of several strong men pressing him down.

When he was repositioned sitting on the bed, his mind was still in chaos. He unconsciously wanted to look back at his back, and his hands instinctively reached out. Thankfully, the aides were as strong as oxen, holding him firmly in place.

At that moment, the doctor was alerted and rushed over, asking, “What happened?” But she quickly grasped the situation at a glance.

Behind her were several other patients from different wards. The doctor pulled the curtain around the bed and began to feel Li Cu’s forehead. As soon as Li Cu saw the doctor in a white coat, he suddenly fell silent.

She was a young female doctor in her thirties. It was clear that this was their first meeting. She wasn’t particularly beautiful, but her figure was quite elegant. Li Cu had always had a soft spot for female doctors since he was young; he didn’t know why, but seeing a female doctor made him feel at ease.

However, this moment of tranquility didn’t truly calm him down, as the pain in his back suddenly reignited his fear.

“Doctor! What’s on my back?”

The doctor shot a reproachful glance at the nurse before frowning and saying, “It’s not the right time to discuss this. Let’s wait until you recover a bit more and are with your father, and then I’ll tell you.”

“Go to hell…” Li Cu’s emotions flared up, and he wanted to curse, but upon seeing the female doctor’s white coat, he forcefully swallowed the rest of his words. The female doctor clearly didn’t want to say much; she immediately signaled to the aides. Li Cu quickly realized that in this situation, his age gave him no voice. If he was tied to the bed, it would be disastrous. Even though he believed he understood life better than his father, others still wouldn’t listen to him, which was probably the tragedy of being a child. Thinking of his father’s face, he suddenly felt annoyed.

“Wait a minute.” He decided to take action and at least try to negotiate: “I’m sorry, I lost control of my emotions just now, but I still want to know what exactly happened to me. I can’t rest well with this question hanging over me.”

Perhaps it was surprising to hear such words from a young man, as the female doctor looked at him and said, “It’s nothing, just some scars. You suffered a very serious knife wound, and it’s likely to leave permanent scars, so we didn’t want to tell you too early. Just focus on resting.”

Li Cu took a deep breath and silently cursed, “If you want me to feel at ease, at least come up with a better excuse. What I just touched was not a trivial matter.” Seeing the female doctor about to leave, he immediately said, “I don’t believe you. Doctor, my parents are already divorced, and I’m 17. I can take responsibility for my own matters.”

This was the truth. Li Cu spoke calmly, but there was also a sense of pleading in his tone.

The female doctor was taken aback for a moment, and the nurse and caregiver nearby looked quite awkward. Li Cu knew he had struck a chord; he had used this line to intimidate many adults before. He continued, “Auntie, I beg you.”

The female doctor sighed and waved her hand to the caregiver, who then relaxed their grip. She said to Li Cu, “Alright, come with me to the office. As long as you don’t tear your bandage again, I’ll tell you.”

“Thank you, Auntie.” Li Cu let out a sigh of relief.
