Liang Wan looked at him mysteriously, and Li Cu was a bit puzzled: “Who is that person?”
“Technically, I shouldn’t know either; it’s a matter for the police department. But as your doctor, I have more contact with them, so I happened to find out,” Liang Wan said. “Someone who can do such things is not an ordinary person.”
“What kind of person is that?” Li Cu asked. “Can you stop keeping me in suspense?”
“Want to know? Buy me dinner,” Liang Wan said, looking at him playfully.
Li Cu frowned, wondering what was wrong with this female doctor. Did she have a screw loose, or was she just trying to flirt with him because she thought he was young and handsome?
Li Cu was well aware of his own looks; he knew he could charm some younger girls, but attracting a mature woman like her was clearly impossible. She was probably just bored.
“Hey, I’m a student and I don’t have much money,” he emphasized the word “student,” hoping she would go easy on him. Liang Wan pulled out a few red bills from her drawer: “This was in your clothes when you were brought in. It’s not much; you can’t afford a fancy meal, but you can at least get some braised food.”
Li Cu took the money and noticed it was stained with blood, which made him feel a chill. “This is money I borrowed from a friend; I planned to use it while hiding out for a few days. But it seems I won’t need it now, so I have to return it.”
“Don’t be ridiculous. Don’t you want to know what’s really going on with your back?” Liang Wan glanced at her watch and then took off her lab coat. She pulled out a pair of high heels from under her desk and put them on.
Only then did Li Cu realize that this female doctor was not as old as he had imagined; she was probably just a recent college graduate, and her petite figure was striking. Her legs had beautiful lines that momentarily dazzled him.
Indeed, a lab coat could hide a lot. He thought to himself as Liang Wan hooked her arm around his and led him out, saying, “Let’s go; I’ll help you with the discharge procedures.”
Liang Wan’s hand was soft, and having never touched a woman before, Li Cu suddenly felt a bit dazed. He thought, could this be the fabled romantic encounter? Wow, this encounter was quite intense. Did this woman particularly like boys whose backs looked like they had been carved into pizza?
“Discharge? Can I really be discharged?” he asked, feeling a bit confused.
“Are you being such a wuss? I’m right here with you; what are you afraid of?” Liang Wan pulled him out of the office and casually turned off the light.
Li Cu was truly dazed. Days later, when he thought back on that moment, he still felt dizzy. A high school boy walking down the street with such a beautiful doctor, her soft, fair hand resting on his arm, felt like a surreal experience that made him feel faint.
If it weren’t for what happened afterward, that day would have been perfect. Even getting a few more cuts on his body would have been worth it. After the subsequent events unfolded, he had thought this in his mind.
