Zhang Haiyan looked at Warner, who showed no signs of falling into a trap. His thought was that as long as he could leave this place and get to a narrow area or somewhere that machine guns couldn’t sweep, he could find a way to escape. As long as his words could help him get out of this situation.
But Warner didn’t engage in conversation at all, and Zhang Haiyan couldn’t urge him either; he was gradually going into shock.
“What should we do now?” Hudson asked. “If they also want to trade with us, do they know how to enter that building?”
Warner nodded, “There’s a possibility. When I was researching that building in China, I gathered information, and some of them may have recognized us.”
“If we reach a deal with them, regardless of who wins or loses, wouldn’t that be more secure?” Hudson inquired.
Warner shook his head, “In this line of work, being overly cautious can lead to huge risks. Miss Dong is alone, while we have over thirty people here, equipped with various firearms, including eighteen submachine guns. They have a large number of people, and given that the gains from the trade are the same, who do you think I would prefer to cooperate with?”
“But Mr. Warner, you said this woman is a monster. Trading with a monster is less reassuring than trading with a human.”
Warner touched his handgun, “This is no longer the age of monsters.”
Zhang Haiyan lay there, unsure whether he should breathe his last or not, thinking to himself, “Are you two done talking yet?”
Warner finally turned his gaze back to Zhang Haiyan, “If it weren’t for her agreeing to take us to that building, her life wouldn’t be our main concern. Now, to ensure the contract is executed, we should stick to her plan and hold our ground here. Tell the other gunners in the other cabins to move in pairs.” Warner looked at Zhang Haiyan, “Steven, if you’re unwilling to tell us the details, then your journey should come to an end.” He nodded to Hudson, “After he dies, let that woman take a good look to see if it matches the methods of the people she mentioned. Also, make sure he dies comfortably.”
Hudson picked up a sofa cushion and pressed it against Zhang Haiyan’s nose. Zhang Haiyan raised his hand and touched Hudson’s gun; upon hearing Warner’s last words, he hesitated and lowered his hand.
“You want to suffocate me, right?” Zhang Haiyan thought, just as he was about to feign suffocation, he didn’t see Hudson draw his handgun and fire a shot through the cushion.
The bullet hit him directly on the nose, and the tremendous impact caused him to spit out all the blood in his mouth.
“That building has a history of 3,000 years. According to legends from the Ming Dynasty in China, it has existed for a long time, with three legends explaining its location. We haven’t found them yet, but now that we are so close, this little sacrifice is worth it.”
Zhang Haiyan’s ears buzzed, and then he was dragged off the sofa.
